                        ABOUT CREDENTIAL EVALUATION

A Credential Evaluation is a professional evaluation of a degree or diploma certificate. It simply verifies the validity of your national education degree. Academic and professional degrees achieved in one nation are compared to those received in another through credential review.  Credential evaluations are used by universities, colleges, and businesses all across the world to understand foreign education and to assess applicants for admission or employment.

Documents that have been forged or manipulated are taken very seriously. Since the most important goal of the evaluation process is to determine the authenticity of academic qualifications, credential evaluators are needed. Credential evaluators report any concerns to the institution that issued the document so that it can be verified. If the receiving institution confirms that the document is not genuine, the receiving institution may be notified, and the document may be recorded into various records.

 

                            CREDENTIAL EVALUATION PROCESS

Credentials are evaluated for certificate authenticity in Ghana and beyond.  In this global knowledge economy, people will go on to one form of academic qualification. This calls everybody to sit up since transactions involve the use of academic credentials. Employers should be mindful of the certificates that are presented to them by prospective employees.  Institutions of higher learning that are considering applicants form to place certain programs at certain higher levels should also be mindful of the intensity of the qualification that has been submitted to them for admission consideration.

This is where the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission comes in, it is one of the key functions of the board, as prescribed by the establishment, acts 744. An institution or even a candidate: the student who has acquired qualification from outside the shores of Ghana and is not present in Ghana seeking to establish the equivalence of the qualification he or she brought into the country against qualifications outside could also approach GTEC for evaluation.

Now, there are forms on the website that permits either the employer or the candidates themselves to apply. Download it, fill it, and print out the form including the consent form.  Come to the office with the application form, consent form, original certificates, and photocopy. Now the original certificate is presented together with the photocopy because we will cross-check or verify if the original certificate features match with that of the photocopied material. When they match, we will give you back the original certificate, and the process starts.

 

 We will also check the authenticity of the certificate from source officials and go ahead if the certificate is genuine and establish the equivalence certificate in the country and then communicate appropriately to the applicants or to whichever address the applicant advised GTEC on. This whole application submission could be done remotely using an automated version of this whole process. The website for the automated version is www.cems.nab.gov.gh. This whole submission could be done there remotely and payment also be paid. The authenticity of the second certificate will be confirmed with the issuing institution. And the equivalency of the qualification is established by the GTEC and a report generated on this will be communicated to the applicants or to any other address that the applicant might have to advise GTEC on to send the report to.
